The VISION website was designed to accommodate visitors using virtually any web browser. However, we have found that some browsers offer a smoother web experience than others, and it is possible that moving away from the browser you use now could greatly enhance your online activities.
The statistical probability is high that you are viewing this page from Windows Internet Explorer. If so, we are pleased to report that the VISION site functions reasonably well with Explorer 6 and 7, as well as in some earlier versions of Explorer. Unfortunately, Explorer no longer provides the best web experience.
If you have never used a browser other than Windows Internet Explorer, you may be surprised to learn that Explorer is among the most trouble-ridden browsers in use today. Indeed, problems that you may have experienced with some sites are more likely the result of Internet Explorer deficiencies rather than problems with the sites themselves. This remains true even for the latest version 7 release of Internet Explorer.
The VISION web design team has made considerable effort to work around the many known Explorer browser "bugs," but some are simply not possible for us to circumvent. For this reason, we wish to recommend alternatives to Internet Explorer for the best possible web browsing experience. With that said, we know it's hard to change something you have grown used to through the years (and comes with every copy of Windows). But we also know that a move away from Internet Explorer is surprisingly easy and makes browsing more enjoyable too. And you can leave Explorer on your hard disk after downloading another browser, just in case you ever wish to switch back.
If you are using Windows, we highly recommend Mozilla Firefox. Firefox is an increasingly popular browser that most often displays websites faster and more accurately than Internet Explorer. Another excellent browser to consider is Safari 3, which Apple Inc made available for the Windows platform as of June 2007.
If you are browsing this site with an Apple Macintosh, we are pleased to report that virtually any modern OS X web browser will display the VISION website correctly and at top speed. You will also find that colors are more pleasing on the Mac versus Windows due to the default gamma settings on the Mac being better adjusted (graphics in Windows browsers appear darker and less rich). Our personal browser of choice for the Mac is Safari, although we are very fond of Firefox, Camino, Opera and Omniweb as well. Internet Explorer has not been supported on the Mac for several years now, and for that reason we cannot recommend it over Safari or Firefox. Indeed, for performance reasons alone we strongly recommend changing from Explorer Mac to Safari or Firefox or another Mac OS X web browser.
If you are visiting us with another computer platform (such as Linux), we recommend Firefox as the browser of choice.
We hope that these browser recommendations will make your web experience smoother, faster and more productive.
