IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ

  1. VISION 1480 products connect to your car by way of digital CAN-BUS.   NEVER purchase a 1480 product online without first verifying if it has been flashed with the correct firmware for your specific car! Installation is not possible for every car. ALWAYS consult our Compatibility PDFs before you buy. If you find that your car is incompatible with the 1480, it's likely our 1460 (analog-installation model) will be compatible. The advantage of the 1480 over the 1460 is faster and easier installation.

  2. Speed-Lock is not longer a feature of our Enhanced 1480.  To add that feature, please purchase one of our Speed-Lock products

  3. The 1480 was engineered to work well with our Speed Lock products and with any 3rd party CAN-BUS products too, but some badly designed CAN-BUS products from other companies continually blast the car's ECU with data, such that our 1480 cannot function properly.  If you have no other CAN-BUS aftermarket products installed in your car, the 1480 will work great (so long as your car is compatible with the 1480).  We simply cannot guarantee our 1480 will work perfectly if you combine it with another company's CAN products which might misbehave.

  4. Because vehicle firmware programmed into the 1480 for your car may be specific to your car, it could be that if you buy a new car in the future, the firmware in your 1480 may not be compatible.  We might be able to upgrade the firmware for you for a nominal upgrade fee if you ship your 1480 control module back to us in Japan. But that would only be possible if your future new car is listed on our 1480 Compatibility PDFs at that future time.

  5. If your car is listed on our Compatibility PDFs but it was made outside Japan, there is the possibility the CAN data could be different.  Please consult with us so we can investigate.  If your car was made in Japan though, there should not be any compatibility problems, assuming the importer to your country did not modify the ECU in any way.

  6. The 1480B  includes a siren with internal backup battery that lasts about 3 years.  Even after the battery dies, the siren will continue to operate.  That battery is glued inside and is not replaceable.  Backup sirens also come with 2 keys to allow you to kill the siren sound easily.  We cannot issue replacement keys, so please keep 1 key in a safe location.

  7. The 1480 may flash vehicle Hazard or Parking lamps, depending on the vehicle.  Light flash is not possible on some cars by using CAN-BUS signals.  Consult our Compatibility PDFs for details about your car.  However, our Enhanced 1480 now offers an analog (–) Light Output wire that can be connected to the Hazards or Parking lights (relay may be required).

  8. If you open a door while the Ignition is ON, the 1480's Status LED will flash until the door is closed.  This is normal and cannot be disabled.

  9. REMOTE STARTERS. In 2014, we become aware that some factory Remote Starters and 3rd party Remote Starters use a dedicated "Door Open" signal output wire to trick the vehicle into thinking a door has been opened after the Remote Starter shuts off the engine. This "door open" signal wire is needed to trigger the Headlights to shut off, on cars that have an Auto Light feature. The problem is that the Door Open signal will trigger our 1480. The SOLUTION is to turn OFF Auto Light (usually at your light switch) and disconnect the remote starter's "Door Open" signal wire. In cases where that does not work (for example, if your Remote Starter connects via CAN-BUS), you would need to Disarm before the engine shuts down (which may not be possible on some cars), or disable the remote starter altogether, or simply not install our 1480. Please note that we do not sell remote start systems.

  10. Please only use the included Posi-Tap connectors when making CAN connections. NEVER use electrotaps. Even soldered connections are commonly found to be inferior to Posi-Tap connections when solder is applied by an inexperienced installer.
