| Compatible vehicles must have "factory" keyless installed (not a 3rd party keyless kit), and vehicle hazard lights must flash after pressing the factory remote's LOCK or UNLOCK buttons. |
| Not compatible if vehicle hazard lights flash when the driver's door is unlocked with the metal key. |
| Incompatible with vehicles that cannot detect a 12v signal from the door lock motors (e.g., most vacuum-type door locks) |
| The 1440 accurately reads the factory keyless signals to prevent unauthorized disarming of the security system. However, there are some very rare cases where the factory keyless signal may drift and prevent arming for a single session. In this case, simply unlocking and then locking again will solve the problem. |
5: | Cannot Arm/Disarm while Hazard lights are flashing, unless the optional CAN-MX adapter is also installed. |
| Optional parts may be required to install the 1440 on some vehicles (e.g., PBS-90 switch for cars with Push Start ignitions, DSS-6 splitter for Smart Key / Intelligent Key equipped cars, or a light flash output polarity-inverting relay 896-2AH). |
| If you install the Light Flash feature, vehicle Parking lights will be flashed, unless you have the CAN-MX. With the optional CAN-MX adapter, vehicle Hazard lights flash instead of the Parking lights. |
| If on your car the factory keyless remote doesn't work while the engine is running, then please note that you will not be able to Arm/Disarm the 1440 when using 3rd party Remote Starters or Turbo Timers. |
| We strongly recommend the optional PBS-90 for cars that have a Push Start ignition. |
| If you find the 1440 is not Arming or Disarming when you press the Lock or Unlock button on the factory remote, it could be that either the Hazard light signals and/or the Door Lock Motor signals are unstable. Relearn the 1440 signals 3 times to fix. |
| If you replace your blinker/hazard lamps (e.g., with LED versions) after the 1440 has been installed, you may need to reset the 1440 and then re-learn the door lock signals again to obtain proper alarm operation. |
| We cannot issue replacement keys for the backup battery sirens. The siren comes with 2 keys, so keep them separated in safe places. Average backup battery life is about 3 years. Backup battery sirens are warrantied for 1 year. |
